DIANA ACOSTA
Hello,
The Undergraduate Student Government (USG) at Stony Brook University’s main purpose is to foster a spirit of community, diversity and fellowship, to create programs and services for the benefit of all members of the campus community. The Undergraduate Student Government provides leadership that ensures the undergraduate student voice will be a powerful force in all decisions made at Stony Brook.
USG is an organization that is centralized around the student: YOU. College should be the best four years of our lives, and we should leave this university feeling a sense of community and understanding, becoming well-rounded individuals ready to face the real world. USG provides programs, concerts, lectures, and overall events that create that sense of pride and community. Some of our most successful events included the Student Activities Board Comedy Series, the Kanye West “School Spirit Tour” Concert, the Dave Chappelle Comedy Show, Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood’s “Whose Line is it Anyway?” comedic tour, among many others. We also fund over two hundred clubs and organizations like the Caribbean Student Organization, Pre-Med Society, the South Asian Student Alliance, the Phillipine United Student Organization among many others.
Our goal for this upcoming year is to continue to provide quality services and programming, and continue to advocate for students rights at Stony Brook University. Your student activity fee pays for all these different programs and activities throughout campus. As the President of USG, I encourage every student to get involved in the many different activities and clubs and organizations on campus. The key to a successful college career is taking advantage of the various resources your university provides, and making your time here worthwhile. Enjoy your time at Stony Brook University!
